50th Anniversary for Jack and Myra

14 Jan

I have been making cakes for this couple for all types of occasions for such a long time and I was so happy I was asked to create a cake for this special celebration. Flavors were lemon butter cake with lemon buttercream frosting. The yellow roses were made from buttercream. The design a simple old-fashioned ruffle drape, topped with a 50th emblem and a gold ribbon bow.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY JACK AND MYRA!

Celebrating 60 Years

1 May

This cake was made for a couple celebrating 60 years of marriage at the Members Club in Pinehurst, NC.  The mixed flowers on top were handmade from buttercream, the 60 was fondant brushed with a little edible gold dust, the bow was satin ribbon. The sheet cake frosted in vanilla buttercream was a 12×18 topped with a 8″ round.

A Golden Anniversary

The ruffle drape has always seemed like an “old-fashioned” design to me, and it’s an easy one to do, so I decided to use it here. The roses are buttercream, the cake flavor was a yellow butter cake with vanilla buttercream, very basic but delicious. It was topped with a 50th emblem and a small gold bow. Cake sizes were 6″-10″-14″ to serve 100.

The cake was delivered to the Pinehurst Members Club.

A Small Anniversary Cake

21 Aug

This was to be an Anniversary cake  for a small party. Just a simple 3 layer 9″ cake, but I thought it needed a little something extra so I added the 6″ top. I also made 4 sugar paste gardenia’s (My first try at these flowers), I brushed them     with pearl dust to give them a little shine.and made fondant leaves and brushed these with a soft green dust. The flavor, a yellow butter cake with almond buttercream. The customer was very pleased and happy with the way I had decorated the cake.

50th Anniversary Cake

4 Apr

This cake was for a 50th Anniversary but they used a different color other than the usual gold/yellow seen at most 50th. I loved the purplish/lavender colors, especially since it was Easter weekend. The cake tiers ( 2 layers each) were  6″-10″-& a 14″ yellow butter cake with almond butter cream. Fresh flowers were provided by the florist. The party was held at Little River Farms Golf and Resort.

50th Anniversary

James and Murtis have been loyal customers of mine for many years and i  was so pleased when they asked me to bake and decorate there 50th Wedding Anniversary cake. They were also renewing their wedding vows. The classic yellow butter cake with vanilla butter cream was there choice and the design was an old fashioned ruffle drape with bows, topped with a 50th ornament. Beautiful fresh roses and babies breath were added between the tiers. The reception was held at the Little River Country Club.

A Different 3 Tier

18 Aug

I haven’t used these stands in quite some time but i’ve always liked the way the cake  looks using them. They make a small cake appear much bigger and it’s very easy to cut.   This one is a 6″-8″-10″ yellow butter  cake with raspberry buttercream filling and almond frosting. I piped a criss/cross design with lily-of-the-valley on the sides. Fresh flowers provided by Aldena’s florist.Brooks 5th Anniversary

50th Anniversary Cakes

30 Jun

The cakes are small but the occasion was very special.

50th AnniversaryI baked a single 6″ and a 10″ 2 layer chocolate fudge cake.  The frosting was vanilla buttercream. The customer requested white roses with a soft green leaf. The placement of the roses was left up to me. The ornament on top was a gold cross with 2 rings and bells at the bottom with a 50 etched on them. Simple and very pretty.

Cake #2 had a different look, they wanted yellow butter cake with chocolate buttercream. This one I did with yellow buttercream roses and a darker green leaf and a 50th pick. It was also a 10″ 2 layer.                                                   50th Anniversary
