Cupcakes for a Bride

18 Feb

With the weather a little warmer (at least here) people are thinking about the Spring wedding season and daisies always make me think of Spring. I made  40 lemon cupcakes for the bridal shower and iced them  in lemon frosting and topped each one with a yellow butter cream daisy. I sprinkled a little coarse granulated sugar in the center of each daisy to add a little sparkle.

A Cake For Valentine’s Day

11 Feb

Are you ready for Valentine’s Day?

I always think of chocolate when it comes to celebrating Valentine’s. This cake has chocolate fudge layers with vanilla butter cream frosting. I cut small chocolate hearts from candy clay made with Wilton’s candy melts and placed them on top & sides. The roses were butter cream. Pretty simple to put together and ooh so good.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

Celebrating 60

9 Feb

Celebrating a 60th birthday with bright and bold colors of  lime, hot pink and black. The customer designed this cake from the large lime 60 on top to the dots and stripes down the side, all I had to do was follow her instructions. The flavor, marble cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. Cake size, a 9″ 3 layer.

Flowers For MaMa

5 Feb

Reaching 90 years of age is pretty special, so they wanted a special cake for the occasion. I made lots of buttercream flowers in many colors to go on the main cake and the sheet cake. The other sheet cake was marked off in squares for easy cutting . I also added a flower to each square. The cake flavors were yellow butter with vanilla frosting.

Shades of Pink

2 Feb

This cake was ordered by Sarah for her Mother’s birthday. She told me to use pink on the cake but to decorate it how ever I liked. I love to make flowers in shades of one color so I started with a very pale pink butter cream and increased the pink color as I made the roses. I added a few white flowers for the finishing touch. The 3 layer 9″ classic butter cake was iced in almond buttercream.
