Happy Thanksgiving Cake

24 Nov

This is one of 3 cakes I had for Thanksgiving this year. The pumpkins, leaves & flowers are fondant. Cake flavor for this one was chocolate with vanilla frosting, others were butter cake with raspberry buttercream filling & almond frosting, and one with vanilla frosting. Hope you have a wonderful day with your families and you have all your favorite foods to eat.

Birthday Cakes for 2

21 Nov

The birthday girl wanted a castle cake with Cinderella and her friends, the birthday boy loves trucks, especially Tonka trucks. This is how they turned out. Both cakes were the same flavor, yellow butter cake with vanilla frosting. Size 11×15

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BRITTON AND ELI!

Castle, truck and figures were purchased items provided by the Mother.

Cakes for Fall

13 Nov

Most of the cakes I’ve had lately have been decorated with Fall designs. I made many leaves of varying colors, and added a few flowers here and there. Quick and easy. Here are just a few.

The Scales of Justice

13 Nov

Well, this was a first for me, doing a cake for a chief justice. Since I didn’t know  exactly what it looked like I launched a search. I found many pictures and styles to choose from  but this one worked out the best. I drew the design on paper then used that for my pattern. I then cut it from fondant and brushed it with “old gold” dust to give it the look of medal.  The fall leaves and flowers are also fondant. Flavor of the cake (one of my favorites) carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

A Cake for Mary LeAnn

7 Nov

Mary LeAnn has a very special aunt her name is also Mary and she always gets her a cake for her birthday. Her aunt also treated her to a trip to the beach. She liked the design of last years cake (a small tiered one) so I repeated it this year but changed the colors and the flavor. This year she wanted one with red. The flavor was marble with vanilla buttercream. Size a 9″ 3 layer with a 5″ single on top.  Decorations were fondant.

HAPPY 14TH MARY LEANN !!

Charm Cake and Pink Roses

4 Nov

It’s always fun to make one of these cakes. There are so many charms to choose from and each one has a special meaning. Some times people write their own meanings if they want to say something really personal that relates to the wedding party but most often they use the ones that come with the charms. Here the  charms are tied to ribbons and tucked under the pink roses on the top.  Cake flavor, yellow butter cake with vanilla frosting the roses are buttercream and the tiny pink ones are fondant. Cake size 10″ round with a single 6″ on top. The cake was for a bridesmaid luncheon being held at Morehead City, NC.
