I love making baby shower cakes. This one was for a baby boy. The customer gave me a napkin with colors & items on it that she wanted me to reproduce on her cake, the carriage, rattler hearts etc. The cake was a (11×15 sheet) yellow butter with vanilla buttercream frosting. All the decorations were cut from fondant.
“A special cake for a special friend” was the request for this cake. The cake was my classic yellow butter cake with vanilla buttercream. The flowers are air- dried buttercream with a fondant bow. I added the small square cake on top to make a simple sheet cake look “special”.
When I do Jamie’s birthday cake I know I must decorate with violets. She loves violets, even if it’s still winter (her birthday is in January) it makes me think of Spring. The cake flavor is chocolate with vanilla buttercream.
