This was made for a 90th birthday. Yellow cake (9×13) with almond buttercream . Red and pink roses was a request, I added the touch of purple.

90th Birthday

To reach the age of 90 I think you always deserve to have a party. I was very happy that this mans daughter, Caroline, asked me to create a cake for this special occasion. I asked her what decorations she wanted she said “whatever I wanted to do but he likes golf, tennis and is a big Duke Blue Devil fan.” With those ideas in mind this is what I came up with. The cake flavor is a classic yellow butter cake with vanilla buttercream. I also did a marble sheet cake for additional servings.

June Birthday Cakes

                                     

June has been pretty busy with birthday cakes.    Here are just a few. The 90th birthday flavor, yellow butter cake with vanilla butter cream frosting and butter cream flowers.  The ballerina girl was for a sweet little girl that loves ballet and also loves the color pink. Cake flavor, classic butter cake, raspberry filling with almond butter cream. The last cake was for  young man who is an optometrist. Flavor, classic butter with vanilla butter cream, butter cream roses, glasses are fondant.

90th Birthday

Flavor for this 90th is a favorite of many people, a simple yellow butter cake with vanilla frosting. The pink roses are buttercream , the others are fondant.

90th Birthday plus a few others

    

2 tier 6″ & 10″ yellow butter cake with vanilla buttercream basketweave. Flowers and wired stars were fondant.          

Marble cake, vanilla buttercream and bright colors of hot pink,lime green and black.

Yellow butter cake, vanilla buttercream with fondant flowers. The horse head was also cake.

Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. Side design done with a small rose tip to give a ruffle look. Flowers and butterfly were fondant.

Flowers For MaMa

Reaching 90 years of age is pretty special, so they wanted a special cake for the occasion. I made lots of buttercream flowers in many colors to go on the main cake and the sheet cake. The other sheet cake was marked off in squares for easy cutting . I also added a flower to each square.The cake flavors were yellow butter with vanilla frosting. 

A Special Birthday Cake

Reaching the age of 90 calls for a special celebration. My friend Diana was giving her Mother a birthday party and asked me to do a cake for the occasion.  To make it extra special I did a tiered cake with lots of flowers, and a 90 formed from fondant. The guest of honor loves pink, so I made butter cream roses in different shades and the other tiny flowers are cut from fondant. The  flavor, a lemon butter cake filled & iced in lemon/almond butter cream.

A Flower Basket

 Sometimes a sheet cakes can be soooo boring but I love how this one turned out. I piped the basket using a small tip # 47, the flowers are all butter cream. Instead of placing the flowers here and there I grouped them by color in clusters, giving a more realistic look to the basket.
