Two Birthday Cakes for Bess

24 Sep

This year Bess wanted a turtle on her cake. WHY!! Because she had been to the beach and was lucky enough to see the hatching of some tiny sea turtles. I’m not sure that the one I molded from fondant looks like a sea turtle but she liked it anyway. The cake and cupcakes were chocolate. The sea shells for the cupcakes were white chocolate. Oh, I forgot to mention she wanted green frosting on her cupcakes.

For her 2nd celebration day her cake was decorated like a present and topped with a purple fondant bow and tiny pink hearts. This one was chocolate with almond buttercream.

Vagas & Miranta Wedding Cake

The design I used on this 4 tier I’ve done before but people seem to like it a lot.  On this one I added the sugar bow on top instead of flowers. The flavors were yellow butter cake and marble with vanilla buttercream frosting.

The venue for this wedding and reception was the National Country Club near Pinehurst.

A Square 3 tier + 1

14 Dec

This was a fairly easy cake to decorate, just scrolls and dots. All done free hand. The tiers were set at an angle. The flavor, a  classic butter cake with vanilla butter cream frosting was topped with a handmade  fondant sugar bow. The  smaller cake set to the side was red velvet, a favorite of the groom. The ornament on top was engraved with the bride and grooms names and their wedding date, a gift from the brides Mother. The silver stand, fresh Christmas greenery and red roses provided by Aldena’s florist.

Baby Block Cake

4 Aug

I like how this turned out. So girlie, with shades of pink sugar flowers and fondant bow on top. I cut the words BABY from fondant with the Wilton letter cutters and added them on all 4 sides of the block. I thought it needed a little something else so I molded a pink fondant bear to set on the largest cake. Now it looks finished.

Dots Galore

2 Aug

This cake I called “pink fantasy”. It was a large 3 tier with deep layers. The pink bow, and monogram were made of fondant. Each tier was circled with ribbon and a “3” dot design with fresh flowers and greens at the base.
