This was a fun cake to do.TheĀ instructions given to me were, enough cake to feed about 100, with the colors of yellow, purple and a “dash” of red. It was up to me to design the cake. I added a small 6″ cake to the side to give the stars and roses some height. Cake flavor, yellow butter with vanilla butter cream frosting. The stars & hearts on wires were fondant , the yellow roses were butter cream. Cake #2 was the same flavor and size 12 x 18. I squared this one-off into 2″ sq’s. (for easy cutting) with a piped rose bud in each square.

Two young people celebrating July 4th Ā Birthdays. Two different flavors of cake. Will likes the golden yellow cake, while Hu always gets a chocolate cake, both have vanilla butter cream frosting. Fondant stars in red, white & blue decorate the top and sides.
Happy Birthday to Ā you both and Happy July 4th.
Not for the 4th of July but a Birthday on July 4th.
I’ve been making HU’s birthday cakes for quite some now and sometimes he wants another theme but most often its red, white and blue. I think some of them are posted here in the archives. The 9″ 3 layer cakeĀ is chocolate with vanilla butter cream frosting. Stars are fondant cut outs.
Ā HAPPY 10THĀ BIRTHDAY HU AND HAPPY 4THĀ OF JULY!!!!!!
Most of my cakes for Friday and Saturday were pick ups exceptĀ the wedding cakeĀ and Saturday turned out to be a very wet day. Rain, rain, rain. Not good for an outside wedding reception even under a tent.
I loved doingĀ the sheet cakes, one was for a 9-year-old girl, the other for a 50’s birthday party.Ā Ā Ā Not knowing what design to do for Alexandra’s cake I gave Ā her a flower garden with a butterfly. All flowers made from fondant, the butterfly was purchased.
Ā The other sheet cake is a design I also love to do, stars, stars and more stars. Some on wires others just on the cake. The colors requested were red and black.I added a 6″ single round on the top to give the stars on wires a lift. Stars and the 50 were fondant.
By the time I was to deliver the wedding cake in the late afternoon it was really beginning to rain. I packed the cake in boxes covered with Saran for protection.Ā GuestsĀ were arriving andĀ trying to stay as dry as possible, they quickly hurriedĀ under the tent. Items for the wedding (flowers etc) that wereĀ outside had to be brought under the tent. It wasĀ getting a littleĀ crowded but the guests seemed to beĀ taking it all in stride.Ā The cake was to be on a cakeĀ stand and to have fresh flowers but they didn’t make it to the table so the cake looks a little bare except for the black ribbon that I wrapped around each tier.
