It’s time for another cake for the triplets birthdays. Glenda (their grandmother) always gets a large cake for the family celebration and 3 smaller cake, one for each of the girls with their initial.

Sarah’s Wedding Cake

11 Oct

Sarah's wedding cakeTodays wedding cake came with a few surprises, first was the design, I had not done one quite like this. Straight lines piped around each tier was not as easy as you might think, at least for me. The bead border and monogram was fine. Second  the weather, was it going to rain or would it hold off till after the wedding. It almost held off. Thank goodness there was a tent on the grounds at Weymouth ( a beautiful historic home here in Southern Pines) for the  reception but the food and cake were inside the house.

The one bright spot while I was waiting for someone to bring me flowers to place on the cake, I got to see the beautiful bride in her lovely gown and all her bridesmaids.

The cake flavor was my classic yellow butter cake with vanilla butter cream. I made  the monogram E out of fondant. The table was covered with a coral pink cloth with a white lace overlay. Fresh flowers were a coral/pink to match the cloth.

Red and black was the color theme for this wedding.

Large beautiful silk roses supplied by the bride lay on each tier and black ribbon surrounded the layers. Topped with a ” K ” monogram was the finishing touch. Cake flavor, yellow butter cake filled with raspberry buttercream and iced in lemon buttercream.

The reception was held at the beautiful Little River Country Club.

Scrolls and Roses Wedding Cake

2 Dec

Kathryn and Mike's wedding cake  Saturday December 1 was another beautiful day in Pinehurst. I guess that makes me sound like and advertisement  for this area but when you get a day around 60 degrees in December you just have to brag. Great day for a wedding. The reception was again held in one of the best places we have here, “The Fair Barn”.

The 4 tier wedding cake was a combination of hexagon and round tiers. The cake flavor, one of my favorites, Classic yellow butter cake with different buttercream fillings in each tier, lemon, almond, chocolate and iced in almond buttercream.

White Roses and Freesia Wedding Cake

1 Apr

The day (March 31st) started out gray and rainy but by late afternoon just in time for the wedding it cleared and was beautiful. The reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC.  The room was filled with tables covered with bright purple cloths (in my pictures they look blue), in the center of each table a small clay pot filled with a mixture of  beautiful flowers, nice and simple.  As I’ve said  before, this is a great place for a wedding reception.

The 3 tiered wedding cake flavors were classic butter cake filled with vanilla/almond  buttercream and iced in vanilla buttercream with a small bead border. The silver stand added just the right touch. On the top, a monogram M. The flowers,  white roses and freesia. A simple design but elegant. Flowers provided by Aberdeen Florist.
