Parker Wedding Cake

11 Oct

Parker wedding cake                         close-upI had so much fun designing this cake with the bride and her Mother. I sketched out some ideas and this is what we decided on doing, 4 different designs for the 4 tiers, dots, 3 wavy lines, a lacy design, and stripes & dots. They wanted to keep it simple as far as the cake flavors, so they ordered their favorite, classic yellow butter cake with vanilla butter cream. I also baked 5 large sheet cakes to go with the main wedding cake to help serve the 300 guest.

Here are 2 of the designs.

Wedding Cake

The  yellow wedding cake matched the day, bright and sunny, perfect for a wedding. The reception  held at The National Country Club was also the perfect place for a party. All the tables were covered with beautiful cloths, navy for the cake table and yellow for the others . Flowers were done by Aldena Floral Designs. Flavors for the wedding cake were yellow butter cake with lemon filling and marble cake with chocolate butter cream. Iced in lemon butter cream.  In the lobby was a candy table with loads of different types of candy for the guest to sample.

Scrolls and Roses Wedding Cake

2 Dec

Kathryn and Mike's wedding cake  Saturday December 1 was another beautiful day in Pinehurst. I guess that makes me sound like and advertisement  for this area but when you get a day around 60 degrees in December you just have to brag. Great day for a wedding. The reception was again held in one of the best places we have here, “The Fair Barn”.

The 4 tier wedding cake was a combination of hexagon and round tiers. The cake flavor, one of my favorites, Classic yellow butter cake with different buttercream fillings in each tier, lemon, almond, chocolate and iced in almond buttercream.

Mike (the groom) loved my Marble cake with chocolate frosting  at the tasting so that’s what I did, a 2 layer 12″ round  for the rehearsal dinner. 100_2124

Grooms Cake

11 Sep

This was a first for me, making a baseball cap for the top of a cake. I haven’t covered many cakes in fondant, I prefer to use a buttercream frosting for my cakes. But I think it worked out pretty good here.  The round cake was baked using half of the ball pan, the brim was fashioned using fondant covered light weight alumiunum sheet, cut and bent to form the shape needed then inserted under the fondant covered round cake.  The cake flavors were yellow butter cake with navy blue and white almond buttercream frosting. The B stood for Barton College and was cut from fondant.

A Purple and White Cake

12 Mar

March 12th turned out to be a beautiful day for a wedding, bright and sunny. The evening reception was held at the Country Club of North Carolina. The wedding cake had two flavors, chocolate fudge and classic yellow butter cake  frosted in vanilla buttercream. A purple ribbon surrounded each tier with a cascade of purple and white flowers down the front from top to bottom.  I also did 2 double layer 11×15 sheet cakes in the same flavors for extra servings.

The Grooms cake which was served at the rehearsal dinner at Forest Creek Club House, was shaped like a tooth (the groom was a dentist).  At least I hoped it looked like a tooth, I’ve never made one before. After looking at many designs, this is what I made. The flavor was Red Velvet with cream cheese filling and frosted in vanilla buttercream. I made the tools (picks etc ) out of fondant.

Grooms Cake with 3 flags

The flags topping this grooms cake (L to R)were  Washington, DC, U S A, & North Carolina. Cake flavor, yellow butter cake with a creamy chocolate buttercream frosting which was so delicious. Cake sizes were 6″-10″& 14″. I delivered the cake to a restaurant called Theo’s in the heart of Pinehurst for a rehearsal dinner.

Karamie’s Wedding

14 May

The wedding reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC.  This is such a great place to hold a party, the room is filled with natural light and has lots of space even for a dance floor. It looks equally pretty in the evening with the soft lighting.

The wedding cake had a simple wave design topped with a monogram B. Flavors were yellow butter cake filled with chocolate fudge frosting and iced in vanilla/almond buttercream. The flowers were from Maggie’s Farm.

The grooms cake (12×18 with a 9×13 on top). The flavor, chocolate with vanilla buttercream. Designed with a laminated ECU on top  to celebrate the grooms school colors of purple and gold. Fondant stars were added for more color.

The tables were covered with beautiful dark purple cloths.

Henley Wedding Cake  The wedding was on Halloween but this bride chose to have a traditional looking wedding cake. Cake flavors were yellow butter cake filled with a rich chocolate and creamy vanilla butter cream. Frosted with vanilla butter cream. Decorated with a crisscross design and piped lily-of-the -valley. Dark red roses were placed on top and each offset tier. The reception was held at the Hampton Inn.

Josh & Lindsay’s Wedding

27 Oct

Josh & Lindsay's wedding cake

This was another beautiful wedding reception held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst. Lindsay’s color theme was a favorite of mine, blue and brown. A few of the special touches for the guest was  a  candy bar and a carriage with the “fringe on top” to use for pictures. The couple also arrived at the reception in a horse drawn carriage decorated with flowers. A classic yellow butter cake was there choice, iced in a vanilla butter cream. Each tier was wrapped in a cocoa brown ribbon and decorated with blue dots. Fresh white roses and a crystal bride and groom were added for that special touch. Below are a few pictures taken before the guests arrived.Tables at reception            Candy Barclose-up of ornament    Fringed Carrige

They also had a grooms cake that was served at the rehearsal dinner on Friday night. The yellow butter sheet cake was decorated with a fun “ball & chain” theme with chocolate frosting. The ball was also cake. Grooms Cake
