A Few Cakes From July

Here it is the first of August and I haven’t posted any cakes from July yet, so here goes

A New Year of Cakes and Other Stuff

After taking off a few days to enjoy Christmas and ring in a new year I’m back in the groove again, baking cakes. This year I have decided to slow down a little and not take as many orders as before. I think at 81 it’s a good time to do that. I have lots of recipes I would love to post and hopefully those that follow me would like that too.

For now here are my latest cakes for 2018.

Fondant Baby Shoes and Pink Booties

Baby Shower Cake

11 x 15  yellow butter cake with vanilla butter cream. The baby shoes are fondant and the pink booties I piped with butter cream.

A “Girlie” Baby Shower

This was my first time doing the sugar booties, something I have wanted to try many times. I think for my first try they came out pretty good. I laced them with real ribbon. Cake size, 10″ 2 layer topped with a 2 layer 6″.

The cake flavor was my old stand by that everyone loves, classic butter with  vanilla buttercream. The flowers were fondant.
