Saturday December 1 was another beautiful day in Pinehurst. I guess that makes me sound like and advertisement for this area but when you get a day around 60 degrees in December you just have to brag. Great day for a wedding. The reception was again held in one of the best places we have here, “The Fair Barn”.
The 4 tier wedding cake was a combination of hexagon and round tiers. The cake flavor, one of my favorites, Classic yellow butter cake with different buttercream fillings in each tier, lemon, almond, chocolate and iced in almond buttercream.
Beautiful decorated tables
Head guest table
And for you “old” car buffs out there a REAL CLASSIC.
A “woody” to drive away in. Isn’t it beautiful!!!
THE GROOMS CAKE
Mike (the groom) loved my Marble cake with chocolate frosting at the tasting so that’s what I did, a 2 layer 12″ round for the rehearsal dinner.
The lady who ordered this cake (her name was also Betty) wanted soft colors with shades of blue and a Cross in the center. The Cross was white chocolate and the flowers were off white buttercream so they would match. Cake flavor, classic butter with almond buttercream frosting. Congratulations to the parents of these 2 fine baby boys.
Stripes and dots seems to be quite popular. The lime green and dark blue makes this cake stand out. I added a few flowers to the design. The message on top was something special just for the bride. Flavor, lemon cake with lemon buttercream frosting.
The day (March 31st) started out gray and rainy but by late afternoon just in time for the wedding it cleared and was beautiful. The reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC. The room was filled with tables covered with bright purple cloths (in my pictures they look blue), in the center of each table a small clay pot filled with a mixture of beautiful flowers, nice and simple. As I’ve said before, this is a great place for a wedding reception.
The 3 tiered wedding cake flavors were classic butter cake filled with vanilla/almond buttercream and iced in vanilla buttercream with a small bead border. The silver stand added just the right touch. On the top, a monogram M. The flowers, white roses and freesia. A simple design but elegant. Flowers provided by Aberdeen Florist.
for a baby boy.
The flavor for this cake (a 10″ 2 layer round”) was a simple yellow butter cake with almond buttercream frosting. The cross was made of white chocolate, the flowers were buttercream white roses and tiny blue flowers cut from fondant.
Who says a wedding cake has to be tiered. This was for a second wedding and the bride did not want a traditional wedding cake, so I baked a 12×18 sheet cake and topped it with a 8″ round. The love knot was the brides idea too. I created it from fondant, I also made white roses and brushed all of them with super pearl dust. The cake was a big hit with everyone.
