Colorful Cupcakes

Cupcakes for Easter. Two flavors, yellow butter and chocolate with almond buttercream frosting. All the flowers are buttercream.

Sugar Flowers

As you can see this is how I spent my Wednesday afternoon. I’m getting ready for Easter. I have sheet cakes and cupcakes to do and they need lots of flowers. I like to make a rainbow of colors and types of  flowers. They are buttercream so I let them air dry till I can pick them up and place where I want them on the cakes/cupcakes. I’ll post the cakes later.

Pink Roses for Karsyn Ann

My first cake for 2011.

What a nice way to start the new year, creating a cake for a baby girls baptism. The cake flavor was a family favorite, classic butter with raspberry buttercream filling and almond frosting. The flowers were buttercream and the cross is made using white chocolate. Monogram and numbers are fondant. Size: 2-10″ rounds.

A Cheshire Cat

 

This was a fun cake to do, especially since i do love cats. The birthday girl was going to see Alice in Wonderland (the movie) as part of her birthday party, so i thought a cat on her cake was purrfect. The cake was yellow  with vanilla butter cream frosting, the cat & stars were cut from fondant, the flowers are butter cream.

Baby Cakes

Just a sample of the 30 cupcakes made for a baby shower.  They were all one flavor, classic yellow butter cake with vanilla butter cream frosting. They had different frosting designs, rattlers, booties & flowers in soft pastel colors.

Flower Cupcakes

I love doing the flower cupcakes, they look like a “garden in a box”. Great for any party. They are now showing up as an alternative to the wedding cake. Placed on a cupcake tiered stand they make a beautiful statement and are easy to serve but despite there size they are not usually any cheaper than ordering a tiered wedding cake.
