Scrolls and Roses Wedding Cake

2 Dec

Kathryn and Mike's wedding cake  Saturday December 1 was another beautiful day in Pinehurst. I guess that makes me sound like and advertisement  for this area but when you get a day around 60 degrees in December you just have to brag. Great day for a wedding. The reception was again held in one of the best places we have here, “The Fair Barn”.

The 4 tier wedding cake was a combination of hexagon and round tiers. The cake flavor, one of my favorites, Classic yellow butter cake with different buttercream fillings in each tier, lemon, almond, chocolate and iced in almond buttercream.

It was a beautiful day for their wedding, clear & not to hot for June. The reception was held at the Country Club of North Carolina near Pinehurst & Southern Pines. The 3 tiered cake was marble with raspberry filling and iced in lemon & almond butter cream. The cake design was a combination of scrolls and dots with one tier wrapped with ribbon and a fondant monogram B placed in the front. Pink rose petals were scattered on the table for added color. Fresh flowers provided by Aldena’s florist.

White Roses and Freesia Wedding Cake

1 Apr

The day (March 31st) started out gray and rainy but by late afternoon just in time for the wedding it cleared and was beautiful. The reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC.  The room was filled with tables covered with bright purple cloths (in my pictures they look blue), in the center of each table a small clay pot filled with a mixture of  beautiful flowers, nice and simple.  As I’ve said  before, this is a great place for a wedding reception.

The 3 tiered wedding cake flavors were classic butter cake filled with vanilla/almond  buttercream and iced in vanilla buttercream with a small bead border. The silver stand added just the right touch. On the top, a monogram M. The flowers,  white roses and freesia. A simple design but elegant. Flowers provided by Aberdeen Florist.

Pink Roses for Karsyn Ann

16 Jan

My first cake for 2011.

What a nice way to start the new year, creating a cake for a baby girls baptism. The cake flavor was a family favorite, classic butter with raspberry buttercream filling and almond frosting. The flowers were buttercream and the cross is made using white chocolate. Monogram and numbers are fondant. Size: 2-10″ rounds.

A Shower of Chocolate

13 Jun

This cake was for a baby shower. Instead of the usual soft pastels this customer wanted  bright orange, hot pink and lime green, great colors to use on the chocolate frosting. The cake flavor was also chocolate filled with the same chocolate fudge frosting. Cake size was 6″ & 10″. The monogram and flowers were fondant.

A Tiered Graduation Cake

13 Jun

This was a different type design for me to do for a graduation cake, not the usual sheet cake. With bright colors, stars, stripes, and circles and a monogram it was a hit with everyone. Flavors were yellow butter cake with vanilla buttercream.

Karamie’s Wedding

14 May

The wedding reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC.  This is such a great place to hold a party, the room is filled with natural light and has lots of space even for a dance floor. It looks equally pretty in the evening with the soft lighting.

The wedding cake had a simple wave design topped with a monogram B. Flavors were yellow butter cake filled with chocolate fudge frosting and iced in vanilla/almond buttercream. The flowers were from Maggie’s Farm.

The grooms cake (12×18 with a 9×13 on top). The flavor, chocolate with vanilla buttercream. Designed with a laminated ECU on top  to celebrate the grooms school colors of purple and gold. Fondant stars were added for more color.

The tables were covered with beautiful dark purple cloths.

Josh & Lindsay’s Wedding

27 Oct Fringed Carriage

Josh & Lindsay's wedding cake

This was another beautiful wedding reception held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst. Lindsay’s color theme was a favorite of mine, blue and brown. A few of the special touches for the guest was  a  candy bar and a carriage with the “fringe on top” to use for pictures. The couple also arrived at the reception in a horse drawn carriage decorated with flowers. A classic yellow butter cake was there choice, iced in a vanilla butter cream. Each tier was wrapped in a cocoa brown ribbon and decorated with blue dots. Fresh white roses and a crystal bride and groom were added for that special touch. Below are a few pictures taken before the guests arrived.Tables at reception            Candy Barclose-up of ornament    Fringed Carrige

They also had a grooms cake that was served at the rehearsal dinner on Friday night. The yellow butter sheet cake was decorated with a fun “ball & chain” theme with chocolate frosting. The ball was also cake. Grooms Cake
