Scrolls and Roses Wedding Cake

2 Dec

Kathryn and Mike's wedding cake  Saturday December 1 was another beautiful day in Pinehurst. I guess that makes me sound like and advertisement  for this area but when you get a day around 60 degrees in December you just have to brag. Great day for a wedding. The reception was again held in one of the best places we have here, “The Fair Barn”.

The 4 tier wedding cake was a combination of hexagon and round tiers. The cake flavor, one of my favorites, Classic yellow butter cake with different buttercream fillings in each tier, lemon, almond, chocolate and iced in almond buttercream.

A “woody”   to drive away in. Isn’t it beautiful!!!

       THE GROOMS CAKE

Mike (the groom) loved my Marble cake with chocolate frosting  at the tasting so that’s what I did, a 2 layer 12″ round  for the rehearsal dinner. 100_2124

A Farm Wedding Reception

16 Oct

The setting was beautiful for this reception, under a tent in the late afternoon on a secluded farm off the road, no highway noise etc. Horses grazing in a nearby field. So serene and quiet.

The 3 tier yellow butter cake was filled with black raspberry buttercream and iced in lemon buttercream basket weave. Fresh flowers mixed with strands of wheat were placed on the top and around each tier. Simple but perfect for the suroundings.

Table arrangements were also simple and pretty.

All in all I think it was a perfect day.

Alison and Darryl’s Wedding Cake

30 Sep

Image

The day was a little dark and gloomy with a chance of rain but the Little River Country Club was decked out for a beautiful wedding reception.  I made this cake for one of MY fellow class mates  ( class of 1955) daughter. I was very happy they asked me to do it. The 4 tier yellow butter cake was filled with a luscious black raspberry butter cream and frosted with vanilla butter cream. Each tier was wrapped with Sangria colored ribbon. Fresh flowers provide by Aldena’s florist.

I also made a groom’s cake, a small chocolate sheet cake for the rehearsal dinner. This couple loves to camp. The theme for that cake of course was “camping”.

MY Best Wishes to Darryl and Alison

Erin & Owen’s Big Day

It was a beautiful day for their wedding, clear & not to hot for June. The reception was held at the Country Club of North Carolina near Pinehurst & Southern Pines. The 3 tiered cake was marble with raspberry filling and iced in lemon & almond butter cream. The cake design was a combination of scrolls and dots with one tier wrapped with ribbon and a fondant monogram B placed in the front. Pink rose petals were scattered on the table for added color. Fresh flowers provided by Aldena’s florist.

Pretty In Pink

6 May

I think this one turned out really pretty, soft and romantic looking. Everything a wedding cake should be. I love the shades of the blush roses with a hint of a deeper color. Cake flavors were yellow butter with chocolate fudge filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Simple but good. The sheet cakes that were added for extra servings were not filled,  just in case SOME people couldn’t eat chocolate. The reception was held at the Country Club Of  North Carolina.  Flowers by Aldena’s florist.

White Roses and Freesia Wedding Cake

1 Apr

The day (March 31st) started out gray and rainy but by late afternoon just in time for the wedding it cleared and was beautiful. The reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC.  The room was filled with tables covered with bright purple cloths (in my pictures they look blue), in the center of each table a small clay pot filled with a mixture of  beautiful flowers, nice and simple.  As I’ve said  before, this is a great place for a wedding reception.

The 3 tiered wedding cake flavors were classic butter cake filled with vanilla/almond  buttercream and iced in vanilla buttercream with a small bead border. The silver stand added just the right touch. On the top, a monogram M. The flowers,  white roses and freesia. A simple design but elegant. Flowers provided by Aberdeen Florist.

Alyce’s Wedding

12 Feb

The day was cool and a little windy but bright and sunny, perfect for a wedding. The wedding and the reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC. I love the Fair Barn it has plenty of room for all types of events. Here are just a few pictures with the room set up for Alyce’s wedding.

The wedding cake was placed in the center of the room and surrounded by the guest tables for a good view when the bride and groom cut the cake.

The cake flavors were chocolate with peanut butter buttercream, lemon cake with lemon buttercream, and yellow butter cake with vanilla buttercream, iced in vanilla buttercream. The flowers were white hydrangea.

Maple Leaf Wedding Cake

20 Nov

This Fall wedding cake flavors were yellow butter cake with black raspberry buttercream filling and rum buttercream frosting. And it was “yummy”. The multi colored maple leaves were in honor of the groom who was from Canada. They were  made from fondant.
