Here are just a few of the cupcakes I made for today. Total number was 48. I really don’t mind making cupcakes, especially when I can do whatever I like for decorations. I made sugar flowers for some of them in different colors and since it was a kitchen shower I made tiny fondant rolling pins, wooden spoons, whisks and spatulas to go on top. I think they turned out well and my customer loved them too.
This year Bess wanted a turtle on her cake. WHY!! Because she had been to the beach and was lucky enough to see the hatching of some tiny sea turtles. I’m not sure that the one I molded from fondant looks like a sea turtle but she liked it anyway. The cake and cupcakes were chocolate. The sea shells for the cupcakes were white chocolate. Oh, I forgot to mention she wanted green frosting on her cupcakes.
For her 2nd celebration day her cake was decorated like a present and topped with a purple fondant bow and tiny pink hearts. This one was chocolate with almond buttercream.
This has got to be one of the easiest cakes I’ve ever done. Made with cupcakes. Some people call them cupcake cakes or pull-apart cakes. Whatever you want to call it, it was fun. The customer was desperate for a cake and I didn’t have time to bake one, all I had were a few leftover cupcakes and flowers from another order. She said “I’ll take them”, so instead of doing them as individual cupcakes I pushed them together to create a small sheet cake. The butterfly was an edible image.
Cupcakes seem to be the thing to serve at showers. I’ve made so many lately. The flavor, yellow butter cake with vanilla frosting. The flowers were air dried buttercream white daises with a spring green leaf. I like the way they turned out. Having white flowers really makes them perfect for a wedding shower.
I think teal is my new favorite color. Something a little different instead of white for a bride and groom party. I made 50 cc’s for this party with a few extras thrown in just because I thought they turned out so well and just because I wanted to. The flavor was my yellow butter cake with vanilla buttercream. The white flowers are cut from fondant.
My Best Wishes to Anna & Eric
